A Natural Wonder in Simalungun
Kawah Putih Tinggi Raja is a tourist attraction located in Dolok Tinggi Raja Village, Silau Kahean District, Simalungun Regency. This tourist attraction is very interesting because it looks like snow but with a hot temperature, so it is often called hot snow. This tourist attraction is located in a nature reserve area of almost two hundred hectares.
Unique Features of Kawah Putih Tinggi Raja:
- White limestone hills: In the middle of the forest, there is a white limestone hill with a crater of several hectares that is filled with hot water. The white color that looks like snow is why this place is called the hot snow hill.
- Sulfur hot springs: The hot water flows through the gaps in the forest forming a lake with blue-greenish water that looks amazing. This hot water flow contains sulfur which is believed to have properties to cure skin diseases.
- Moving crater: It is said that in Kawah Putih Tinggi Raja, the hot water crater can move and shift because the source of the hot water can move.
- Unique crater cliffs: The crater cliffs located before the crater location are also interesting to see and enjoy.
- River with cool water: There is a river flow that can be a place for visitors to enjoy water activities such as swimming. The water flow in this river is very cool because it flows from a waterfall there.
How to Get to Kawah Putih Tinggi Raja:
- The distance from Medan is about 90 km which can be covered in 3 hours.
- From Medan city, the journey goes through Lubuk Pakam, then continues towards Galang and then Dolok Tinggi Raja.
- The last 10 km of the road is in poor condition.
- On the way there, there are already signposts to the location of the tourist attraction when you cross the Bangun Purba intersection.
