Built by Sultan Deli IX:
The construction of Istana Maimun was initiated in 1888 by Sultan Makmun Al Rasyid Perkasa Alamsyah, the ninth Sultan of Deli. The palace was designed by Italian architect Theodoor van Erp, showcasing a blend of Malay and European architectural styles.
Magnificent Structure:
Spanning an area of 2,772 square meters, Istana Maimun boasts 30 rooms adorned with intricate details. The dominant yellow color symbolizes the grandeur of the Deli Sultanate. Exquisite Malay ornaments, such as colorful wood and brick carvings, further enrich the palace’s facade. A large golden yellow dome crowns the structure, adding to its majestic presence.
