Geological Aspects
The Situmurun Geosite is a pumice pyroclastic fall deposit product of the eruption of the Sibandang Caldera (YTT) which covered part of the Uluan block before it collapsed, with a panoramic view of the landscape of the collapse of the boulders, which is the Uluan block at the base of the Porsea Caldera which experienced a slide towards the lake as a result of being dragged down by debris during the formation of the Sibandang Caldera74. 000 years ago.
Biological Aspects
The Situmurun Geosite is occupied by residential communities in addition to other economic activities such as rice cultivation. The morphology of the plains between the morphology of the hills in the caldera rim area has excellent water potential in addition to the fertile soil originating from weathered soil from the surrounding hills, in addition to the presence of Pine and Harimonting trees. Buffalo (Bubalus bubalis) is not just livestock for plowing rice fields. The gray-skinned animal is a means of production, savings and investment, as well as a supplier of nutrients. Buffaloes are also an inseparable part of traditional rituals. For decades, buffalo in Toba have been developed in people’s livestock for generations.
Buffalo milk is also taken to drink. Milk is cooked as a side dish. The milk is compressed, then mixed in the arsik. Buffalo meat is consumed for daily meals and parties. There is always a demand for buffalo because they are used in traditional Batak ceremonies, such as weddings, deaths and honor ceremonies.
Sigaol Weaving Village, located in Situmurun Village, is a place where almost all the female residents work as weavers of Ulos (traditional Batak Toba woven cloth).
The work of these weavers is an effort to increase their economic income. This place is also a location for community empowerment, especially for women. This location is in the Situmurun Geosite area.
