A Historical Palace in Simalungun
Introduction:
Rumah Bolon Pematang Purba is a historical Batak Simalungun traditional house palace located in Purba District, Simalungun Regency. Built in 1515 by a Simalungun king, the palace stands as a testament to the glory of the kingdom in the past.

The palace is situated just 200 meters from the main road in Pematang Purba Village, approximately 170 km from Medan and 70 km from Pematang Siantar. Initiated by King Purba, the palace became the residence of successive Simalungun kings and was passed down through generations. Tuan Pangultop-ultop (1624-1648) was the first king to inhabit the palace, and the leadership continued until King Tuan Mogang. It is said that King Tuan Mogang’s body was never found after being killed in the social revolution in Simalungun in 1947.

Built from forest wood without using any nails, the palace demonstrates the extraordinary craftsmanship of its builders.
