Mount Pusikbukit is a composite volcano located on Samosir Island, Lake Toba, North Sumatra. This mountain has an elevation of 1,982 meters above sea level (masl), and rises more than 1,000 meters above the surface of Lake Toba. Its height is almost 200 meters higher than the western caldera wall of Lake Toba.
Characteristics of Mount Pusikbukit:
- Composition: Mount Pusikbukit is composed of two main types of rocks, namely pyroxene andesite (61-65% SiO2) and hornblende dacite lava (68-69% SiO2).
- Lava Flows: The dacite lava flows on this mountain are considered to be the youngest based on their geomorphological expression.
- Eruptions: There are no records of historical eruptions that have ever occurred at Mount Pusikbukit.
- Solfatara: There is an active solfatara on the northeastern flank of this mountain.
