Geological Aspects
The outcrop of mudstone units (‘pebbly mud-stone’) exposed on the cliffs of the waterfall in Eden Park is an attractive destination for tourists to bathe and enjoy the cool water.
Biological Aspects
Andaliman (Zanthoxy lumacan thopodium) is a kind of shrub or small tree from the citrus family (Rutacea). Andaliman fruit is one of the important spices in the culinary arts of the Batak tribe. Andaliman fruit provides a fresh aroma and distinctive tart characteristics. Andaliman trees are cultivated in the Eden Garden Geosite, and the fruit can be harvested directly.
The Eden Garden Geosite is a Botanical Garden, contains Geological and Biological elements, has various collections of Andemic Toba plants, such as Andaliman, Toba Orchids, as well as strawberries, oranges, flowers and many others. At the Garden of Eden Geosite, we can plant trees for individuals, groups and organizations which will be maintained until these trees grow. This typical Toba orchid breeding place was inaugurated on February 14 2009. The Toba Orchid Park covering an area of 1,000 square meters collects more than 300 types of orchids. Around 100 types of them were imported from Lumban Julu District. Apart from orchids, we also collect pitcher plants (nepenthes). In the Eden Gardens forest area, various wild animals are also found, including Sumatran tigers and birds.
Cultural Aspects
At this Geosite, cultural elements are displayed in manor attractions for visitors at events, and receiving guests and tourists, while for everyday life you can see local cultural wisdom in the form of creativity and Geo products.
