Geological Aspects
The YTT deposits in the Tele plateau area and its surroundings show deformation due to active faults (connected to the great fault of Sumatra (right). Outcrops of slate from the Pangururan Formation, exposed on the road cliffs between Simpang Harian and Simpang Limbong, this rock unit has experienced tectonics, leaving behind the shapes of giant boulders. The Simpang Limbong area, showing the landscape of the Pangururan Formation rock unit (left) and the pebbly mud-stone rock outcrop which shows coarse clastic rock fragments which are characteristic of mudstone with glacier fragments (right).
Biological Aspects
Paddy fields which are found in the valleys between the hills and rocks within the caldera rim, are occupied by community settlements in addition to other economic activities such as cultivating paddy rice. The morphology of the plains between the morphology of the hills in the caldera rim area has excellent water potential in addition to the fertile soil originating from weathered soil from the surrounding hills.
Cultural Aspects
In Sihotang Village there are traditional Batak Toba houses built facing each other and in rows and appear to form a separate hut. These houses were built using wood and were made on stilts with wooden support poles. The entrance is made smaller so that when people enter they will bow their heads. The roof is no longer made using palm fiber but has been replaced with zinc. There are many gorga ornaments on the body and roof of the building which are black, red and white. At the boundary between the support pole and the body there is a wooden board decorated with round ornaments. Besides that, there is a sarcophagus placed in the middle of the village.
